WHO WE ARE
CERTIFIED BIRTH + POSTPARTUM, LOSS & GRIEF DOULA; PLACENTA SPECIALIST
I believe that positive birth experiences matter. A mama is able to have a positive birth experience when she feels safe and supported. We have the power to change society one birth at a time. By empowering women and elevating the birth experience in the Western world to value life as a phenomenal rite of passage, transformation can happen for both – mama + baby. I bring conscious care to the community by providing physical and emotional support, advocacy, as well as educational, non-medical, information to the birthing families.
I'm here to provide you with tools. I'm here to give you those positive reflections of the little accomplishments, even when there are experiences or feelings that seem grueling. I'm here because our healthcare system doesn't provide you with a continuity of care. I’m here to provide you with community, bonding and support that will leave you feeling empowered and independent.
When I’m not supporting families through their prenatal, birth + postpartum experiences, I spend time working on my farm in Willamina - North Coast Pastures, as well as practice + teach yoga locally - West Valley Yoga. My life as the youngest of six has led me to always being around families in transition with tiny humans. This prompted me to spend years working in childcare and preschool education. After working in a holistic women’s center, and being surrounded by women supporting women, supporting women, I discovered the role of the doula in the community. I was overwhelmed with passion as I understood where my spirit has taken me, finally.
Whatever the setting of your journey, it is the feeling of being safe and supported by others present that matters. I'm here to be present for you. Enliven your experience.
CERTIFIED BIRTH DOULA; CERTIFYING IN PRENATAL + POSTPARTUM MASSAGE
I have been attending births throughout my life but as a birth doula since 2013. I am certified through Birth arts international.
It is my passion that every mother I serve feels educated, well prepared, supported, heard, and nurtured throughout her pregnancy and birth experience. My hopes are that they have full trust in their body's ability and experience the strength they have within. It is this strength that will propel them in becoming confident in their abilities as a new parent.
I am a wife of 25 years and a mother to 3 awesome kids. I have had a fascination and love for birth my whole life but my own experiences giving birth ignited my passion in helping women know they have options and have the final say in what happens to their bodies. Each one of my births were different and had challenging circumstances. These experiences have helped me to be empathetic to laboring women and provide encouragement and understanding. I have been so blessed to have supported so many moms through a variety of different labor and deliveries.
Each couple has different needs and desires. I assist parents in learning different scenarios and explore possibilities to help them connect to their hopes for their birth and to convey these wishes to all their care team, guiding them in having a beautiful experience.
Heather certified in Prenatal + Postpartum therapeutic touch for birth through Family Massage Education Center (*Heather is not a Licensed Massage Therapist). She is incredibly gentle, intuitive and sensitive. She uses these traits in her doula work + is now offering soft tissue body work and therapeutic touch for mamas. She is wildly passionate about the benefits massage brings to both her clients and for her own body.
CERTIFYING POSTPARTUM DOULA; FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST & PARENTING CONSULTANT
Growing a family is something sacred and special. As a Family Support Specialist + Postpartum Doula, my aim is to ensure that every moment is a cherished memory. I empower parents by investing in their story, seeking to understand and discover the hopes they hold for their family, and supporting them in actualizing those dreams.
I have walked alongside of families through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. From holding a cool cloth to a woman's head in that instant when she steps into motherhood for the first time, to holding space for the mother losing her battle with drug addiction. We are not always equipped to meet life's most significant moments with grace and triumph. We all need and deserve support. It is the passion of my heart to share those stories and resources that will strengthen your family, enabling you to live out the dreams you hold for yourself and your family.
As your Postpartum Doula, I will meet with you immediately following the birth of your new baby, through the first two weeks. On-going postpartum support is also available on a week-by-week basis. My role is to help facilitate the bonding between mom, dad, and baby. I assist families in-home to ensure all their questions are getting answered and that they are freed up to immerse themselves in the ever-important attachment process.
CERTIFIED BIRTH + POSTPARTUM DOULA
I believe that birth is one of the most transformative events in a person’s life. As with most of the heightened moments in our lives, we want to be surrounded by people that love and support us unconditionally. With a doula by your side you can be sure that you will be seen, heard and respected throughout your individual journey into parenthood.
I feel as though the most empowering thing we can do as people is to educate ourselves about the path to come. In my work as a doula,
I aim to create a safe and comforting environment wherever you are. No two births are the same, and with each new mama and family I bring fresh eyes and heart.
I received my training from Jesse Remer at Mother Tree Doula Services in Portland, OR through DONA International in 2015. Jesse’s renowned training prepared me with a deep understanding of women’s needs during labor and delivery and a full toolbox of skills to best serve the families I work with. Following my training at Mother Tree, I joined the Birthing Stone team as a student doula in the Portland area. The mentorship through Birthing Stone gave me practical experience and further deepened my love for birth work. At the end of the mentorship with Birthing Stone I began the most important part of my doula journey - my OWN pregnancy + birth with my son Tova. I steeped myself in supportive women who listened to me in the most profound way, hearing what I didn’t even know I was saying. I learned what strength and knowledge can do for the mind, body and spirit during pregnancy and birth. After his birth I learned what a connected community and support means. When I am not chasing after my now 2.5 year old I am either working at Even Pull Farm, surfing or exploring other parts of this amazing state.
“Brea was a warm, intuitive, extremely helpful, resourceful, and consistently kind and gentle support to me, to our newborn, and to our whole family… her sunny smile, easy warmth, giving nature, and natural kindness were there every single day that she spent with us…Brea is a naturally caring person whose instinct to help, be helpful, and respond to your needs - even before you know you have them. This is such a gift in a doula… Brea is entirely free of judgment, which is a real gift. I highly recommend Brea as a doula and as a woman.” - Noelle M
“I had a very long labor and having Heather there was such a blessing! Heather helped me stay calm and feel like I could handle the pain like a pro. So much stress was alleviated by her presence and she brought so much comfort to the table! After our experience my husband says that he doesn’t understand how anyone gives birth without a doula present. Heather’s coaching is impressive and I would whole-heartedly recommend her as a wonderful doula to any expecting mother!” - Chrissy W
“Stephanie was empathetic, wonderful, and helpful. She was confident when she explained information to me, and explained things in a professional and friendly way. I felt like my voice and opinion was heard. I liked how I got more skills to stay relaxed during challenging times with my kids.” - Amity Parent
We love what we doula.
